There are many types of mouse traps (I like the catch and release ones best) you can try but you can give mint a try too. They don't like the smell of it so either dampen some rags (or even paper towels) with some peppermint oil and put near places they like to go or grow some mint plants. It probably wont get rid of all of them but some should look else where to live.
I have used Riddex, its an electronic ultrasound device that you plug in but they did nothing at all to keep those mice away.
I also have a cat and when he feels like it he may catch one but he usually just plays with it and either lets it go or kills it and lets it lay there. So unless you want to get a cat as a pet don't get one just to catch mice.

There are a few things to keep in mind, your house is a huge heat source in the middle of the winter. Mice flock to the warmest place. If you live in a area like I do, there is very little that you can do to keep them from coming in. Your best bet is to be sure that you make it as uncomfortable as possible. Don't keep your house exceptionally warm, and don't leave food scraps out.
There is an audible repelent that you can get from most hardware stores that you can plug in that is inaudible to you, but is an annoying nagging sound to the mice. This will repel them simply from inability to sleep and sheer exauhstion.
If you lay out baits and traps, keep in mind that anything else that you have could be caught in those traps or eat the poisons, including choldren and other pets.
Cats are great mouse hunters, unfortunately you run the risk of lime and rabies infecting your pets.
Good Luck

Cat is your best option, especially that comes from a farm. They not only kill the mice but eat them also, so you don't have to dispose of dead bodies. Besides, fresh mice are GOOD for cats.
I don't like the sticky traps. They are extremely cruel! They keep the poor thing stuck until it dies of starvation or thirst or until you kill it yourself.
You can get no-kill traps from Home Depot, then kill the mice yourself, or use regular old-fashioned spring-loaded traps IF you don't have cats or dogs in the house that can trigger the traps and injure themselves.
Some electronic ultrasound devices work for some people - but not all. I found them all but useless.

so cute if only they had no tail. yes mice , they come in because there´s food for them to eat, try making sure your kitchen is free of any possible food´s for them to pick on, sweet the floor after every meal keep bread and other thigh´s in tight lids. you can buy the glue that you lay down and they run across and get stuck . but I would say buy bigger traps, & if you can find this where you live great Spanish Chorizo sausage , ther is no way that they will pass this without having a taste , , also if you find out where there getting in try block this entrance , oh yes lot´s of people have tried peanut butter & chocolate . the chocolate work but the sausage catches them every time

Decon on the outside of the house will keep them away for the winter. In between, I found that dryer sheets make them stay away. Just put a few in areas where the mice are active. If you want to use plain old mouse traps, I suggest putting a glob of peanut butter on the trap and put a sunflower seed on the peanut butter. When the mouse takes the seed, the trap goes off.

Sticky traps work well and I also have cats. The house I am in now had lots of mice when we moved in about four years ago. Now I hardly have any.

get a few mouse traps, like the sticky floor ones and put some cheese on it. Once youve caught the mosue but the trap in a bottle so the mouse doesnt bite you and take it either to animal controll or just throw it in the trash.

I like the sticky traps, but be forewarned that many a mouse has chewed off their own foot to get free. The regular mousetraps are a quicker kill, but be careful not to catch your finger in them. Sweep your floors alot, keep your food in "mouseproof" containers. Elliminating their food source might cause them to go to the neighbors place..lol
