It's not just you. The vast majority of Anime shows on the air for the past few years were originally Magna. The shows just follow the same line as the magna so people don't get confused if they look at both of them. I think that the writers just want to make popular books into very popular shows if you ask me, and I think that they've done a wonderful job.

not true to all anime's

even for the most famous or most successful

let me give you some examples

ZOIDS was first introduced in the 1970's as a series of toys somehow similar to 'lego' and after reaching fame in the 80's was then put into anime seires

TRANSFORMERS was first a concept for toys that was simultenously lauched as anime and a series of toys for people to buy

MACROSS (ROBOTECH) & GUNDAM is similar to zoids and transformers with gundam as one of the oldest robot series

as you can see, there is a pattern to the launching of animes in the genre of robots, even voltes v, daimos, mazinger z, mekanda may have the similar pattern
the idea is to sell the toy to the market by profiling them in a cartoon series

the only robot who did not go thru this pattern is ASTRO BOY, he was originally a manga before having tremendous success in animation and in the toys market

astro boy was the pioneer

and i think this is where the trend of selling toys thru anime came from

from what i know, NARUTO was not originally manga but a newspaper comic strip (if you want to get technical)

there are other anime's that did not go thru the process of manga, i mean coming only from ideas from directors or artists since anime is considered as major television or movie industry in japan

Yeah thats true most anime ideas come from mangas first because..(( personally in my opinion))..those are like drafts you could say for the anime series..if you noticed most episodes stick to the manga story and some stray from that..

I suppose most of the popular anime has their own manga so your question is more of a statement. :)
