My partner is looking to start an new business but she donsn't know where to start! Shes a fully qualified Nanny & Nursery Nurse and wants to start her own Nursery. Obviously going to start out small and hopefully become BIG! Were in Bexleyheath, Kent, England and have found a few shops but it all seems so dawnting. What websites do you know of that leases shops? Do we have to contact the council etc . . . . . . .

Any info is better than none so all is apreciated. You can I.M me personally if you need more info.

Thanks in advance

Personally, I wouldn't send my child to a BIG nursery! Small and friendly would be more inviting I think.
Your partner needs to consider the Ofsted rules when setting up her nursery - they have regulations on the premises, staffing ratios and curriculum - see their website. The Local Authority will also have an under 5's advisor who should be consulted. All child care has to provide the outcomes identified under the Change for Children agenda.
Business Link and similar agencies can help with the basic business set up, but she needs specialist help with the technical stuff on the nursery side.

i am currently applying to start my own business, i used www.businesslink.com, to make a business plan, then rang my bank to book an appt with the business loan provider. They both were a great help, it is daunting and i didn't know where to start but am now feeling more confident now i have my business plan. It depends if you have savings or not as you might not require a business loan. I would imagine you would have to inform local councils if atarting a nurserie they might beable to help with licences, health and safety regulations. when i rang my bank they sent me out an information pack with the relevant info. And special contacts that might help! it's alot of work but i'm sure your wife is more than capable with the support of you... good luck xx

Look in the yellow pages for your local Business Enterprise agency. Every town in the UK has one that covers there area.

They are fantastic and help you with EVERYTHING for free, and can even provide funding.

It's the only way to go when thinking of a small business.
Good luck!!

Learn at bit about the business side of it, accounts etc. Also the regulations for this type of business. Business link are good for this.

For premises there's Daltons Weekly you might have to order from newsagent.

Finally think hard about how your business will work, what competition, who will use it, why will they come to you instead of someone else, how much will it cost, how much will you make etc etc
