is there any issue in crossing the Canadian borders? Do I need to do anything special in order to cross with my dog? Thanks very much!

Mostly you just need proof of rabies vacination. That is all I have ever been asked for. However, I always carry proof of all vaccinations, etc. The websites say to have a certificate of health, but in 3 years and hundreds of crossings I have never been asked for one at customs on either side.

There is one other thing to note though ... any dog food, dog treats, rawhide bones, and similar items, when you get to Washington state, you will have to prove that they were purchased in the U.S. or they will be confiscated.

You will need valid papers showing that your pet companion has had all of its shots for distemper, rabies, etc.. If it needs medication, you need to bring along a note from the Vet that indicates the name of the drug and dosage...this will help you refill the script should it be necessary while in Canada.

Looking forward to having you visit!

This talks more about the importation of Dogs, but would probably apply to your situation also.

As long as all the certificates are up to date you should be okay.
