Building confidence, and self esteem can help a person overcome shyness, sometimes shyness is down to one feeling inadequate, more so than everyone else, even assertive classes help to build confidence i think a shy person would so much benefit from these classes.

Actually being shy its hard to overcome first. I'm remember before in my college days(sorry to tell the story ha) I'm shy to go in the front or being in the stage because it is too many people around me that who will look if I have mistake or anything(negative thinking ) but once my professor tell me to join a organisation who will booze my self-esteem. He is right now I can talk to anyone not being shy of course.Just believe you can do it and dont think negative thats all..

You have to push yourself to overcome it. No one else can do it for you. Just try talking to someone you don't know in the grocery store or movie store. If you see them looking at a product you've use or like tell them, "Hey that stuff is great." Or if they're looking at a movie you loved or hated, tell them. It may seem kind of weird and awkward but it will help you get over it. Another way is just to smile at people when you walk by, or say hi. Talk to people who are ringing you up at the store more than you normally would...work into it slowly. Good luck.

Do you mean how do you help people overcome shyness? I think alot of people are shy because they are fearful of what other people think of them to the point of paralysis. Quit the morbid introspection and face your fear head on, hard as it might be. Gradually make yourself give people eye contact for breif periods. Think of how to make others feel better and serving them. It really does work. I was shy but am not really anymore.

You just got to think like this. It is better to say that you tried something than to have not tried it at all. In somethings you don't get a second chance and shyness does not help so remember there is no reason to be shy.Sometimes you may feel embarrased about doing things but you have to remember that nobody is perfect so be outgoing and at least try you never know you might just like it anyways in the end it doesn't really matter.

To overcome shyness, you must get out of your comfort zone, meaning if you are afraid or shy to be the first one to speak to someone, then begin to do it. I do not know your age , but if you are young , as you began to understand yourself better, you will be able to express your self better. For now, any opportunity that you get to express yourself, do so.for you will find that after much practice it can become a part of you and before you know the shyness will no longer be an issue. Remember, practice, practice, practice.

over coming the shyness quality is never easy believe me I'm still shy and I'm 25... people have told me all my life that it'll change with age, but I have recently became more outspoken since I lost my father in a car accident back in Dec of 2005...
so when I'm around shy people I feel for them I know what they're going through and it's sad that it took a accident for me to loose my father to become more outspoken

I'm shy, so I know. You have to give them trust, sometimes you're the one that has to aproach them.

i'm really shy, but anyway you could compliment them often, find out their interests and talk to them about it. that way they will have a lot to talk about.
