taboo is good - you have to describe a word without saying certain other words on the card - its incredibly simple to understand and you can split up in teams or not bother if you dont want to. No complicated rules or objects and good as an ice breaker

The Name Game
well heres one thats fun and costs no money and anyone at basically any age can play
heres how it goes:one person has a piece of paper and everyone tells them a name any name that people would know example Marilyn Monroe now after the one person writes down all of the names they read them twice and only twice the people playing have to remember all the names and try to guess whos name is who if your right you combine with the person you got and have another chance to guess someone else and until the last person is pick the persons group wins
maybe sounds confusing but is really fun

Reminds me of Christmas 1963 We where all sitting round the table.Each person is given a straw, the person with the shortest straw is taken out side and shot.Great wheeze.Lost Great Aunt Mourd playing,makes the old tricker race I can tell you.To this day I still think how lucky I was to swop my straw over with hers when she turned round to see why Binkie had fallen into the fire place (drunk of coarse that's the first time binkie saved my life) any way must dash, have a great dinner party.

Beer pong. many different twists on this game, but it involves 2 teams of 2 people tossing ping pong balls across the table into cups partially filled with beer. Each side must drink any beer that gets a ball tossed into it, first one to hit all the other sides cups wins... the losers must come over and drink the rest of the winners beer also. Great game, but collect the keys before it starts!

Everybody drinks a bottle of whisky or vodka and somebody then leaves the room. All those left have to guess who has gone out!

Pictionary is a great game to play. With a large group it is better if you have really, really big pads of paper to draw on.

there are many new games out there that you can get, for example trivia dvd, or other trivia for that matter, who wants to be a millionare, pictionary, or scategoruies, there are also board games, card games, if its childrens games you can play a simple game of simon says.

I played "apples to apples" at a volleyball party, and it was a lot of fun. i would reccomend it, especially if u have a lot of people.
