Do you think his support of undocumented workers is going to hurt his chances of being president? Polls indicate that 82% of Americans want undocumented workers deported. And a summer of 2006 poll indicated that over 50% of Hispanics want undocumented workers deported. I think the candidate that comes out strongly against undocumented workers will win the presidency. A poll done last year already indicated it was the top hot button issue besides the war.
His amnesty comments he made to Jay Leno will come up later on. Should he correct his position as soon as possible to avoid more damage?
I think people in Washington have been listening to too many media spinners and too many squeaky wheels who get a lot of grease. Democrat politician have lost contact with their constituents.

I think the Democrat party is really lucky that there is an unpopular war being fought. If there was not a war then Republicans would have gained more seats in the house and the senate. The "Howard Dean" style fringe democrats don't represent mainstream democrats.

More information:
It is easy to deport undocumented workers. Just set up detention camps near railroad tracks. Then load undocumented workers onto Amtrak trains destined for the border.
Hire unemployed Americans to help in the round up. An Arizona sherrif has has a lot of success with hiring citizens to rounding up undocumented workers.

More information: THE PRICE OF LETTUCE WILL STAY NEAR SAME after undocumented workers are deported. Even if we pay farm workers $21 an hour it would only increase the cost of lettuce by 14 cents.

The average "consumer unit" in the U.S. spends $7 a week on fresh fruit and vegetables, less than is spent on alcohol, according to Martin. On a $1 head of lettuce, the farm worker gets about 6 or 7 cents, roughly 1/15th of the retail price. Even a big run-up in the cost of labor can't hit the consumer very hard.

I think anyone who is for amnesty must like war since 82% of Americans and 50% of hispanics are against it,I think citizens are getting to the breaking point on this issue and will not tolerate much more freeloading.Prior to 1965 when the disastrous Immigration Bill was passed, there was very little immigration. In fact, between 1925 and 1965, there was even a period of net emigration out of the United States. During this time, our grass was getting cut, our meat was being packed, our children were being watched and our houses were being cleaned. The idea that somehow we suddenly can't run a country without an unlimited supply of foreigners is absurd.
Those in favor of foreign labor are corporations who are addicted to cheap labor. They are the ones who are benefiting. But their benefit comes at the American tax payer's expense when you consider that the American tax payer is virtually subsidizing the labor costs of the greedy corporations by supplying the illegal foreign workers and their families with welfare, free education, free medical, WICs, housing assistance, etc. -- something the corporations won't do.

Obama makes subtle jokes, many do not understand them so he should take care He made a great one when he was suporting an American small business, a cafe. The cafe owner gave the longest and most complex list of ingredients I have ever heard, Obama enquired with a straight face: " Do we get whizz on that?"

If 82% of americans want undocumented workers deported- then I have more respect for Edwards. At least he's not jumping on the popularity bandwagon and supporting something that's totally unworkable.
Just how the heck are we going to round up 13 million people?
No- he shouldn't correct his opinion just to agree with foolish americans.

Probably just wants to keep his laborers on-site happy. Once his castle in the Carolina woods is completed, look for him to do an about face on this issue. It will be like his Iraq War position. "I was for it when it was popular, but now I am against it." I do not believe The Breck Girl at all..

No, he should not correct his position. It may cost him the Presidency, but he does not switch his stance on issues just because it may be unpopular. I actually admire him in that respect, although most people will not see it that way.

I think he realizes the monumental task and negative economic repercussions of doing that. Just as Ronald Reagan realized when he gave amnesty to illegals.
Would you like to pay $10 a head for iceberg lettuce?

Obama is in trouble too. He is a big fan of illegal immigration. Same for some of the Republican Party.

Anything John Edwards says hurts his campaign. The only bigger dummy than him, is Jimmy Carter. At least Bill Clinton knows how to enchant, and deceive people. John Edwards is plain useless, and taking up space.
