Don't waste your money (unless you're rich of course) on more than one power filter. Get one rated for a little more than your tank's size and do weekly water changes of 20-30% a week and you will have no problem maintaining the tank. Putting fancy filter systems into the tank just encourages laziness and the tendency for more pitfalls to develop. There is no filter available that is better than putting fresh water into the tank.

you shouldnt only use 1 filter for a 90 gallon set up for red devils.
The red devil cichlid makes a lot of waste and you would need 2 large filters on each side of the tank along with 3 or 4 smaller filters on the bottom of the tank. make sure you protect the wiring with some swort of plastic protection because the red devils will bite through the wire insulation and cause a electric shock. Also you will need about 2 inches of aquarium rocks on the bottom. It is not neccessary but red devils do like certain red colored artificial and the key word is ARTIFICIAL because they will eat any other plants. Also have 2 or more salt water rocks in (wash them off and let them soak in hot water for 3 days) the water, because red devils come from salty waters. and last but not least have a heater in the tank 82 degrees at all times and have 3 large Plecos to clean the tank.

I would recommend a pair of power filters each rated for near or above the tank size one for each end of the tank. As to brand, Whisper are common and in my experience quite reliable.
