I did a speech about the stages of grief and what someone goes thorugh when they have lost a loved one, or even ended a relationship ( denial, anger, depression, etc). I had lost my mom when I was 16 so it really applied to me as well and I could use personal experience to frame it. That made it even more meaningful to the audience. Afterwards, so many peopla came to me to thank me for talking about it because people rarely do. Plus, I included examples of how to console someone who recently lost a loved one and that really helped. Again, so many people don't know what to say in that circumstance so they really appreciated my information.

If you have never lost a loved one, maybe you could talk to someone that has. You could read the book by Anne Kubler-Ross called "On death and Dying", and any other related book or material that would help you.

Anyway, great question and I hope you find a great topic if this is not the one for you.

What I did was to to the opinion page in Newsweek.. they are short and good.. read a couple and use them. Not plagerize.. but use their ideas.. It will definitely be good, especially with the political races for president heating up.

Another good topic is adding hormones to beef feed.

And genetically altered seeds.. Monsanto is the world leader in this area.

Good luck to you.

Wow, the one unique speech topic that I used that got me a scholarship was on postmortem photography (is a hobby of mine).

There are tons of resources on the Internet, if you are interested - the best? www.burnsarchive.com
