Because about 1/3 of them are willing to commit treason, Leogirl, that is why they should not be in positions of trust.

LOL superb faith... now Christians declare u . s . to be a Christian u . s . a . through fact of lack of expertise. they have self assurance that it relatively is through the fact the predominate faith is Christian yet in reality those that formed the country have been of various religions. some have been even Atheists. They formed the country so as that government would and can be become self sufficient from faith considering the undeniable fact that they had seen the difficulty led to while a spiritual team had complete means over the government besides. for this reason they got here to u . s . a . of america to get far flung from it.

Yes, and so should Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, etc...but that doesn't happen often does it? A Buddhist is not power mad and a Muslim, well, they are all terrorists right? And an atheist would lead the country to hell..so I guess Christians should be the only religion to hold office in America..have fun..in the land of the free.

This country was founded on the belief in FREEDOM of religion. Since that is a given truth, then it would stand that anyone can and should be allowed to serve in public office if they meet constitutional requirements. However, saying that, doesn't mean that this country is ready to accept someone of a particular faith as President of the United States! While the majority of elected officials are protestant christians, J.F.K. was a devout Catholic.. I don't recall any president being of Jewish faith. I do believe that this nation is in no way ready to accept as President, someone of the Islamic faith.

Christians have always been in higher office in this country. This is the way it is even today. In our government, there are many government officials of different religions. Some like to bring their beliefs into the laws of our country and many misquote the Bible for their own use.

Most people said "no." Those who said "yes" would not be electable by the populace. As a Constitutional rule, we do not legislate religion. You can not ban a Christian from office any more than you can ban a Jew or a Buddhist, or legislate atheism as a requirement for service.

My Lord comes before ANYONE OR ANYTHING. Non-believers will just have to deal with it.
Along the same line, the COLLEGE OF WILLIAM AND MARYin Williamsburg, Va had to take the cross out of the chapel! Again, Christians are FORCED to bow to the whiners. Talk about having BELIEFS SHOVED DOWN ONES THROAT!

Interesting (and somewhat frightening) link. But they didn't answer that way because they were Christians, but because they were extremists.
I should hope that *extremists* of any religion will be detected before they score a high public office in our country. But that said? Separation of church and state means that we shouldn't bar Christians, anymore than we should bar Muslims or Mormons, from holding public office.

Yes, Christians should be allowed to hold high public offices and hopefully there will be no decisions that have to be made that would betray their Christian beliefs.
