Even the new commercial is wierd they focus on Lebron the whole commercial then show Kobe in the middle of the group because they know he is the better player. What kind of message are they trying to send? Do they think everyone in America is idiots? In my opinion I lose respect for Nike for not remaining neutral they don't know what really happened in Colorodo and what message are they trying to send with the commercial?

Kobe never said G Arenas was irresponsible retard he said he had no conscience meaning he shoots without worrying whether or not he's gonna make it which is what you need to do tard.

I think it does have a lot to do with what happened in Colorado. The NBA and David Stern don't want any excess baggage or bad media coverage, so this is how they treat it. LeBron is being pushed all over the world, which is why there is a big focus on his sig shoe - this is exactly how Kobe would have been pushed if things hadn't happened the way they did. Maybe Kobe and Nike had a deal, and still having him in all of the commercials and giving him a shoe but not marketing him as much as LeBron is the compromise?

Their decision on the lineup (which I didn't even notice) had nothing to do with the rape case.

I think it's pretty obvious that LeBron is wayyy more popular both in the US and the rest of the world than Kobe. The fact is that people who watch basketball don't like arrogant, egomaniacal, ball hogs who blame their teams bad record on the other players. Kobe is not only arrogant but he also has no respect towards other players: he had no right to call G. Arenas an irresponsible player who shoots too much (when Gilbert scored 60). You shouldn't be losing respect for Nike, you should be losing respect for Kobe because you get what you give.

With that being said, LeBron is also a way better player than Kobe. Compare their stats and their teams standing and you'll see where everyone is coming from when they say "LeBron is better than Kobe".

Therefore, Nike's decision to give LeBron more credit is justified. Nike only does what the fans want to see and the fans obviously like LeBron more.

EDIT: Hey di*khead, Kobe said:

"You tip your hat and say, 'See you next time.' First of all, he shot 27 free throws. We as a team shot 30. Think about that.

But him individually, it's funny. He doesn't seem to have much of a conscience. I really don't think he does. Some of the shots he took tonight, you miss those, and they're just terrible shots. Awful. You make them and they're unbelievable shots. I don't get a chance to play him much, so I haven't gotten used to that mentality of just chucking it up there. He made some big ones, but I'll be ready next time."

It's the exact same thing. Nonetheless Kobe Bryant is in no place to be telling Gilbert Arenas that he takes too many shots and that his shots are "terrible". Who's the biggest ballhog in the league? It's Kobe and Kobe has no right to tell another player that he takes to many shots. Next time, think before typing.

Until his legal problems a few years ago, Kobe was the most promoted basketball player since Michael Jordan. But Kobe lost a lot of sponsors when he was accused of rape. Fine, he was found not guilty, but it was still obvious and public that he committed adultery. Lebron James is one of the best all around players in the league, he's only like 22, and he has no publicity baggage. THAT'S why Nike promotes Lebron more than Kobe.

i dont think nike was trying to promote lebron more than kobe. if you ask me i thought it was the other way around. i thought kobe was the leader of the entire commercial and all the other players were behind HIM. sure they cut to every player individually throughout the whole thing, but i swear they flashed kobe a little more than anyone else. ive seen it a million times and i figured out why kobe is actually the center of the commercial. remember when kobe changed his jersey this year from 8 to 24 and he said it was because it symbolized the "second coming" of his career? well the commercial motto is.... yup the "second coming"... meaning just like kobe, nike is celebrating the "second coming" i.e. next generation of air forces after its 25th anniversary. does that make sense? so yeah... i dont think nike was promoting lebron more than kobe in this particular commercial, but maybe as a whole they like him better.

Why is Kobe the better player? By what definition? Regardless, it is called marketing. Lebron is the more marketable player. Kobe has been charged (Not convicted) with rape, admittedly cheated on his wife and has proved to be a greedy player. To most of the public, that is not someone they want to idolize. Lebron is more liked, more respected, and more of an athlete that people can look up to than Kobe.

Lebron has been Nike's new golden child since before the rape allegations against Kobe. Lebron had just been drafted and hadn't played a game when I started seeing multiple adds with him in them. I think with him being so young and popular, (he was the league leading vote getter for the all-star game), that Nike is just capitalizing on it.

I am not so sure it is because of the rape allegations. Lebron James is now "the next big thing" in the NBA. He is the star of the future now. Not to say that Kobe is old news, but Lebron has more star appeal.
