A bank contains 57 Nickles,dimes and quarters. There are 8 more dimes than quarters and 5 more nickles than dimes. How much money is in the bank?

5+D = N

D + N + Q = 57

8+ Q + 5 + 8 + Q + Q =57

3Q = 36

Q = 12


D = 20

N = 25

N + D + Q = 57 coins total
D = Q + 8
N = D + 5

substitute to the first equation (you will get Q)
(D + 5) + (Q + 8) + Q = 57
((Q + 8) + 5) + (Q + 8) + Q = 57
Q + 13 + Q + 8 + Q = 57
3Q + 21 = 57
3Q = 36
Q = 12
D = 12+ 8 = 20
N = 20 + 5 = 25
