That is a very interesting question. You might try www.wikipedia.com to search for the answer, if you can't find it here.

Disable the firewall while you are downloading. You should be able to find an option in Norton to do this.
Otherwise, just kill norton by pressing ctrl+alt+del and going into the task manager - click the 'processes' tab and I think norton is called something like 'ccapp'. End the process, ignore the stupid warning, and when you are done, simply reboot, and it will come back online.

dont uninstall norton. norton and mcafee are two of the best anti-virus programs. your norton, unless you have the internet security, or norton firewall, is not doing it to you. you simply have anti-virus, not anything else. go to control panel, security center/firewall, and click on the exceptions tab and then type in the web address or something that is limiting it. if you have a seperate firewall program then you need to check that. also, in internet explorer, go to internet options, click on security, then click on custom level and click on something like prompt for active x controls, or allow most active x controls to be used on your computer. that could be doing it too.

yea I agree with gas_indyc.... Norton is too controlling. try McAfee instead.
you can also check your firewall settings from your network connections properties.

you can usually open your Norton control center, by double clicking on it or right clicking on it, and elect to turn of the firewall for a certain amount of time.
also, it's wikipedia.org, not .com.
