Because they are tall enough to dunk without jumping.

They are just too heavy for their muscles. They can walk and climb a little, but their muscles are just too insubstantial for jumping. I think there are others that cannot jump though.

They are also the only animal with four knees. Others have two knees and two hocks.

Elephants are remarkable creatures, so many things are unusual about them...

Admittedly, elephants have great difficulty jumping, but fortunately, basketball is not their game. But hockey, that's a diffent matter...

Who says they can't jump? Their knees are backwards, but so are birds and many other animals. They can 'jump', to some extent.
