I really hate to keep the toilet brush and container near the toilet and just wondered if anyone else had a sanitary way to store the brush out of the bathroom. Ive tried disposibles but sometimes the brush seems best. Also I wonder if you guys sanitize the brush after cleaning so that whatever you clean doesnt end up at the bottom of the brush holder. There has to be a better way, if anybody has any tips please let me know. Also how are they stored at hotels etc. this might help give me some ideas. I would rather keep it out of my bathroom or in some way so that it is sanitary, its just such an ugly accessory, thanks!

We keep ours in a big Folgers plastic coffee container. I use bleach to keep it sanitary, and it is stored in the bottom section of the linen closet

Here is a great idea.

Recycle a milk jug. Half gallon might work, but gallon is what we used in my house growing up.

With a sharp knife, cut a slit through the top of the jug, about 2 inches down, and across from the handle side of the jug. Start widening out as you go in each direction, first sizing the opening to the width of the handle of the brush, and making your way to the width of the business end of the brush with some clearance so the bristles don't splatter as you put it away. Stop about half to two thirds of the way down the milk jug. Then cut across to match the two sides together and pull out the cutaway piece. Make sure you have enough room to get the brush inside the opening easily but with enough of the jug bottom intact to catch any drips that come off the brush.

Now you have a caddy with a handle to carry to the toilet and back. You can hide it, and the slit actually opens to put the brush in, but closes back up to hold the handle upright. To put the brush inside, I recommend doing this part first, and then slide the handle up through the top of the jug, and put the bristle end through last. Less messy.

When the jug gets nasty or the slit starts to lose its ability to hold up the brush handle like it first did, you can just make a new one.

Disposable, clever, green, and FREE.

If you have a cabinet under the sink, you can store it there. That's where I keep mine. Otherwise store it in a utility closet, in a seperate container, away from your other cleaning supplies. I usually rinse the brush out in hot water before storing.

I keep mine in a recycled large plastic jar that once held 2 lbs. 2 oz (96.3g)Planters peanuts. I store it in the under-sink cabinet...out of sight, out of mind.
