probably because some Hispanics, just like some black people, are in the same living arrangement as they are. i have also noticed that sometimes even WHITE people can use the word with out black people being offended. i think it all depends on if you are, as they say- "ghetto".

if you ask me, i think black people should accept the term from everyone, or no one at all.
