why has Anna Nicole's death gotten so much publicity? There have been bigger celebrities that have gotten much less air time after they died, such as John Ritter.

exactly!!! john ritter was an awesome guy and had the best show ever!!
but anna nichole didnt do anything with her life except get naked for dirty old guys to look at.

It is a curious thing about our modern world. The cult of celebrity has grown out of all proportion, so that we have the strange phenomenon of people who are famous simply for being famous. In the past if a person became famous it was because they had done something significant to do so. Now name contestants in "Big Brother" are often as well known to many of the public as the names of world heads of state.
In Anna Nicole's case, there has been just enough of a hint of juicy speculation over what caused he death and enough scandal during her life that the magazines etc. have been able to really go to town.
Of course, the fact that she is good looking and has a great figure which she has been willing to display to the world has probably helped; I don't know who John Ritter is, but even though I personally am far from being a fan of Anna Nicole I was well aware of who she was simply because I have repeatedly heard and seen things about her in the media.
I'm reminded somewhat of the quote from Pirates of the Carribean. Captain Sparrow is told, "You are the worst pirate I have ever heard about", to which he responds, "But you HAVE heard about me" These days the common thinking seems to be that any publicity is good publicity, particularly for those such as Anna Nicole (Paris is another who comes to mind) whose only contribution to society is their fame/notoriety and providing fuel for the gossip columns.

I'll start with the fact she may have inherited a fortune from her oil tycoon octogenarian husband, and there is a question as to who the father is of her baby, her eldest son died weeks before she did,and now her mother whom she hasn't said the word 'Boo' to in years pops up to claim the body is the mixing bowl for a successful soap opera. She is the main character who can keep the show running....and she's dead! There's a lot more to this than John Ritter's death I'm afraid, and the media is soaking it up.

It's gotten so much publicity because of the vast amount of money that is involved. there are people popping up all over the place saying that they are the father of anna's baby. Not to mention that the way she got that money to begin with was one big publicity stunt after another.
personally i didn't like the woman because i thought she was a gold digger...but that's just me
FYI the "Prince" that says he is anna's baby's daddy bought the title...he isn't really a prince, I heard that on the radio this morning.

I totally agree. Honestly I don't think this should be such a priority when there are TONS of other news worthy events happening in the world everyday. Such as the multiple wars plaguing the world... global warming... etc.

John Ritter didn't leave a path of destruction behind, he was a good person....ANS, on the other hand, has a continuous saga even after her death, it won't stop, so neither will the press!!!

John Ritter was never naked in a magazine (I hope) nor did he grab media attention as hungrily as Anna Nicole.

Because her life was public. Not just the "shows" she did, but her every move. And with all the speculation of Daniels death and who Danielynnes' father is, and who the money will go to....people like drama, especially when they can sit back and watch it and not be the center of it.

I think it's because of everything that is going on. The mystery behind her death. Her son's death. All the men claiming to be the baby's father. Her will.
I'm sure we'll be hearing about this for a while.
