I sometimes listen to NPR and they're always running tours to Cuba. For the life of me I can't understand how left wingers, who will drive you crazy telling you how much they "value diversity" and oppose excessive government power, can stomach (much less go visit!) a gangster like Castro who tolerates diversity about as well as he tolerates rat poison. Can anyone explain this?
BTW, you Blame-America-Firsters need not "answer". Cuba is not "our fault" and we didn't "make Castro what he is" or whatever the nonsense du jour is from your crowd.

I certainly don't "lionize Fidel Castro"-that's just silly. I'm not in favor of Communism-in the end, it leads to dictatorship like fascism. On the other hand, I certainly believe it's helpful to know what's really going on there. The US has been involved in some bad stuff itself, that crucifying anyone else won't cure. We need to spend a little time looking at our own behavior instead of pointing fingers at that other schoolyard bully.

No , but you made George W, Bush President or rather helped him steal the Presidency. Fidel Castro is recovering so the TV stated Saturday. No one loves Castro but look , how can you set there and run Castro down ,when you just love George Bush and he is by far the worst of the two.

I haven't a clue, but if anyone can explain what pleasure they derive from that, I would like to hear their explanations. He may be old and sick, but that shouldn't be a reason for glorification.
