The title is 'In the 1928 election the Nazi party won only 12 seats in the Reichstag. In January 1933 Hitler became chancellor. Why did support for the Nazi party grow during this period?' I have done the intoduction and a paragraph on the 'wall street crash' But the guideline for the next paragraph says: Weimar republic unable to provide answers -weak governments because of proportional representation -No answers -president ruled with emergency powers - people saw this as a strong solution -people turned to extreme groups: Nazis/Communists I have no idea what to write for this particular paragraph. If anyone is willing to help i would be SO SO SO thankfull. This has been on my mind for so long. And i'm finding it nearly impossible to do. Please?

There have been 3 elections between 1928 and 1933, they will show how the number of seats increased. Before the number of seats for the Nazis decreased to 12

You have to understand, that the Nazis never gained more than roughly one third of the votes, but the system of the Weimar Republic made it hard to get a majority, there have been too many parties for the young democracy and the fluctuations between the parties have been enormous. Hitlers regime was purely built on emergency powers, all laws and regulations were set in place by using those powers.
Looking at the voting results, you might recognise that there is a strong shift from the National Party to the Nazis and although the left parties gained votes, while the centre clearly loosing votes. None of the parties had a compfortable majority, which led to building governments with moinorities and by coalitions of 3 or more parties.
The coalition of Nazis and Nationalists was forming the government with having a weak President (Hindenburg from the Nationalist party) who was a marionette of the Nazis and put all the emergency powers in place.

Resons for the shifts can be found in the great depression and World War 1 aftermath. Germany had to pay enormous sums in reperations and the industrial heart of Germany (the Ruhr valley) was occupied by France. Germany was not allowed to have an army, own tanks and so on. The great depression put an extra to that whole sittuation.
The Nazis had a strong propaganda and used popular phrases to gain publicity and votes.

First, you will need to do some reading on the subject. Your school library or local town library should be able to provide you necessary reading material. As you read, keep in mind the question of why support grew for the Nazi party during that period. Take notes in point form as you read. If you research carefully you should be able to come up with enough information to address the question. Good luck. Why not see your teacher and explain that you are having some difficulty knowing just how to approach this question. Your teacher may have some valuable suggestions including book recommendations.
