ok...this might be hard to get across on here, but here goes:

a POINT is just that, any point in space. It is given a letter name, we will use A. it is called point A or just A and is notated as such as well.

a LINE goes through 2 points and continues on forever. If the two points are A and B, then we will call this Line AB and notate it by writing AB and drawing an double arrow on top:
<---->
AB

a SEGMENT is only part of a line. A segment has a starting point and an ending point- or 2 endpoints if you will. If it starts at A and ends at B then it is called segment AB or line segment AB and is notated by writing AB with a dash over it without arrows.
----
AB

a RAY has only one endpoint and continues forever from that starting point. So if it starts at A and continues pass B, then we call it ray AB. now, if it starts at B and continues pass A, then it would be called rayBA. make sure the endpoint is named first! To notate it, we will write AB and place an arrow above it in one direction
---->
AB

A plane is an section in space that contains 4 points . It is named with the letters of the 4 points and sometimes is notated by a rectangal, so we would call it plane ABCD and notate it as either ABCD or ABCD (draw rect)

an angle is the connection of 2 rays at a common endpoint. it is either named with 1 point or with 3 points. if the vertex is A and there are 2 rays starting at A, one continuing pass B and one continueing pass C, then we would call this angle A, or angle BAC or angle CAB. we would notate it with a little angle like symbol sort of like a mix between < and L. this would be placed in front of the letters:

hope that helps a little...

i think they must be asking for the little symbols used.
here are the symblos i use:

the point would be a little dot, like a period.
a line is a short line with arrows on both ends
segment is a short line with two points on both ends
ray is a line with one point and one arrow
an angle is a letter v on it's side
