Why does the Government try to please all the different little groups instead of pleasing the majority. I am not saying that their opnion shouldnt be heard by why force it on everyone. I mean there are the atheists (sp?) who say it offends them to have the words under God in our pledge. Well guess what it offends me that they want to change it. So who is right? And all of the lesbian/gays who want equality and say we are discriminating against them, well when they force us to agree with them or else have them throw a major hissy fit and cause problems, isnt that kind of discriminating against us because we are straight and dont believe the same way? Now before you all start lecturing me I am giving you examples of things. I have a good friend who is a lesbian and has a "wife" and one of my cousins is a lesbian so I dont necessarily have any problem with them. I just have a problem that the radical ones try and force us to treat them equal.

I mean if you leave us alone and stop demanding that we treat you equally because you are gay/lesbian/atheist/etc. then most probably would. If you want to be treated equally STOP ANNOUNCING TO THE WORLD THAT YOU ARE DIFFERENT!!! I mean let us get to know you for you. If you are gay or whatever then we will be more willing to accept it if you are JOE first and Gay second. If you introduce your self as Gay 1st a lot of people wont want to get to know the Joe that is 2nd. So just try to fit in and stop pointing out that you are different. That will get you further than constantly fighting with the gov. about it. The government cant please everyone. No matter what they do they offend someone so that is why I wonder why do they even try?

Now joe brings up a good point. I dont necessarily want anyone to believe what I believe unless the already think that way. I dont expect to change anyones mind just like some people wont change mine. I just want to point out that just because it makes some people happy it will still offend others and that we shouldnt just bend over backwards to please everyone. I dont care who it offends (Christian/Atheists, Straight or not) everyone is going to be offended a little so just deal with it. It is part of life. Nothing is ever perfect and you dont always get your way.

Apparently not everyone read the part about that I have a good friend who is a lesbian and married and have a cousin who is lesbian (who has a kid she raised with her partner) and I was just using those as an example. What they do is their business, which is EXACTLY my point. If it is none of my goddamn business then why do they make it my business by forcing their issues on us??? I may not agree with what my friend in cousin do but they are still my friends and I still love my cousin the same as I always have and will always treat them the same as I treat anyone else.

This would also be called 'activist agendas' and I don't know why they're giving the minority the upper hand. Everyone deserves their rights...but they shouldn't be taking away OURS at the same time.

The government has been busy pleasing nobody (with the exception of some of the lunatic fringe) for quite a while now.

Politicians only know how to do one thing - get themselves elected. They will tell you anything, and go to extremes to garner support for their campaigns.

Someone said it best: 'the only honest politician is one who stays bought once he/she is bought'.

As far as being offended by 'under god', if you are an atheist, don't say it. If you are a christian (or indifferent) then say it. You make a good point there - but remember, you being offended by something doesn't necessarily make it to where everyone should respect your wishes, the same as you don't have to respect anyone elses.

It's still a free country - despite attempts by some to make it otherwise.

because those little groups have campaign money

and in all reality, that means that they're NOT pleasing everyone, only those who have something to offer in return

"who says that they have a right to change it?"
[the gay thing]
NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO LISTEN TO THEM!! YES, THEY WANT TO BE HEARD BUT THEY'RE NOT FORCING YOU TO LISTEN!!!

Just admitt it, you want all gays to be swiped off the planet

I'm guessing you voted for Bush last election
