Needles. Some people think it hurts more because it's not as quick as a gun but guns tend to leave more scar tissue behind than needles. I find that most people who get any kind of cartilage (your nose is cartilage) pierced with guns get those little bumps of scar tissue afterwards that don't go away. Personally I've never heard of a tattoo/piercing shop using anything other than needles for their piercings unless you're planning on going to a jewelry store; which in my opinion isn't the safest place to go. If you want a clean, sterilized, precise piercing go to a well known tattoo shop in your area & you won't regret it.

Needle is always better for any piercing. They're sterile, used once, and in the hands of a trained professional. Guns are handed out to any jewelry store employee with a half hour of "training." Body piercers spend YEARS and lots of money learning how to safely pierce. Also, needles are much sharper than earrings are. This means less force to get it through, less damage to the area, and less pain for you.

Nose piercings are not done with a gun. Your piercing will be done with a clamp and an awl ( a hollow tapered needle). The stud or ring will then be inserted and you will be sent on your merry little way. Your eyes will water - it is inevitable. Have fun.

It should not be done with a gun. Professional nose piercing should be done with a hollowed needle to push out he piece of skin where the hole is, It also help to prevent infection.

Needle. Had mine done five years ago with a needle - turned out fab with minimal pain. I had a bad experience with a gun piercing. I got my cartilage pierced with a gun and got a huge scar tissue lump behind my ear! I heard it can happen from the trauma of punching it through so fast - i think the needles are better.....

needle. the gun is lame. part of the piercing experience is getting that needle stuck through you. also, if done properly the piercing with the needly will heal better and make it easier for you to change your jewelery. go to a piercer and ask them... they'll tell you the same thing.
