She went to Hanoi four decades ago. I mean Tokyo Rose was only 6 decades ago, why not bring her up while you're at it? What about John Wilkes Boothe? He was an actor too!

I bring it up because I've seen two questions today that bring up "Hanoi Jane" as if it is supposed to sap all of the strength out of people who oppose the war.
Every freakin' web discussion of war and someone brings up "Hanoi Jane."
WTF?

Because she is still an anti-war activist, and like they say, "an Elephant never forgets."

Read John McCain's biography and his account of Jane Fonda during Vietnam and you will see that behavior like hers IS relevant. Although I would love to agree with some of the other answerer's that she as a human being is irrelevant, the fact that she has in the past and continues to put our country in danger with her loudmouthed stupidity is a huge problem. Besides, although Hanoi Jane may have been rampaging the first time 4 decades ago, she is still making sure that her violent opposition to those that protect her right to BE a loudmouth is still happening - which makes her a current issue (once again)

Geez, (as you put it) wasn't she invited to speak at a far left rally by all the far left folks....then appeared on the left networks. I guess a truer headline should of been "Why do liberals think Jane Fonda is relevant?" I'm sure if Tokyo Rose and Boothe were still alive they would of been on stage after Sean Penn.

She stupidly sat on an anti aircraft gun and put her hands on it, simulating shooting it, while looking at the Vietnamese man she was talking to. In trying it out and trying to understand it she dug her own grave. For this she will never be forgiven by the masses who believed that she was pointing the gun at America and wanting to kill soldiers. The conservatives were the happiest people in the world when that footage made it mainstream..and now every time an actor publicly speaks out against anything conservative she is brought up as an example of traitorous Hollywood. Thank goodness for the public figures that have not cowered down and not expressed their opinions just because they are threatened with death on a daily basis. Free speech in America is almost dead but some still bravely stand.

Seemingly, Jane Fonda and Bill Clinton are the only bullets the conservatives have to use against the Democratic Party. As a result, I think the Democrats will do just fine.

i don't think i would classify myself as "con", but what jane fonda did was unforgiveable.
the difference between jane, tokyo, and booth is jane received no form of reprimand from our government. john wilkes booth was killed and his co conspirators were hanged and tokyo rose was put on trial for treason. jane, on the other hand came back to america and retained her acting career and remained rich and famous.

She did it whether it was 4 decades ago or last week. She has NEVER apologized for it even though she was aiding and abetting the enemy. YOU can forgive her if you want, I could care less. I, FOR ONE, think old Jane is a political idiot and do not intend to forget what she did. Comprendo?

Because she keeps repeating her past. Just a couple of weeks ago she started over with her bashing of our troops again. The left doesn't think she is irrelevant with bring her out to bash the troops in public. Besides in America it falls under freedom of speech.

Why not ask Jane Fonda go visit Iraq now and post photos with those "freedom fighters" and see what happens?!

I don't think many "hollywood stars" are relevant to real life.
Now that spears is bald, I'm half expecting her to enlist in the Iranian Republican Guard (or whatever)...
...except they don't let women hold guns over there probably...
and quite frankly I would be scared of spears holding a gun.
