2x - 2 = 5(x-3)/11
5(x-3)/11 ===> (5x-15)/11 (because multiplication first)
now move the 11 over to the other side of the equation
11(2x-2) = 5x-15 ==> 22x-22 = 5x-15
put them with like terms so you have 22x-5x = 22+(-15)
17x = 7 so x = 7/17

2x-2 = 5(x-3)/11
2x-2 = 5x - 15/11
11 (2x-2) = (5x - 15/11) 11
22x - 22 = 5x -15
22x - 5 x = -15 + 22
17x = 7
x=7/17

1.multiply by 11: 22x-22=5(x-3)
2.get rid of brackets: 22x-22=5x-15
3.separate known from unknown:22x-5x=-15+22
4.17x=7
5.divide by 17: x=7/17
if u learn this procedure u can solve all exercises of this type and with practise u ll be able to handle them easily

2x - 2 = 5 (x - 3)/11
-x -x
1x - 2 = 5 (-3)/11
+2 +2
x = 7 (-3)/11
x = -21/11
x = 1.990

i got 7/17.....first distribute the top part of the fraction into 5x-15, then multiply both sides by 11 to get rid of the fraction, you get 22x-22=5x-15...then minus 5x and add the 22 to opposite sides....divide both sides by 17 and there it is
