I want to make a mix tape, like a dance mix, combining different parts of of songs. [IE, 0:00-0:05 of Cupid's Chokehold, then 0:14-0:17 of Ain't No Other Man, put together in the same song, back to back.] How do I do it? My computer burns CD's and et cetera, and all the songs that I need bits and pieces of are on my computer.

you need a program that will allow you to do that. i have nero smart burn and it will crop songs at certain parts...then you add them to the burn list.....after you have all the songs then you make sure that you leave no pause inbetween the songs because they will copy as if different numbered songs. then burn the cd...hope this helps and good luck.

I use Sound Forge Acid to make all my continuous dance mixes for local dj's who play cd's and don't have a cd mixer. It ain't cheap you could try and get a free version off LimeWire with a key generator but if you get caught you're on your own. Acid is a hardcore tool so it can do a LOT from mixing samples to full tracks and has a graphical aid for splicing music perfectly, beat counters, tempo adjustments, etc.

Sound Forge is now made by Sony software and is used by Sony Music. It does more than just connect samples it's a complete music production facility on your computer.

Ez-DJ by SimpleStar is about 30$ and will let you mix full MP3's and sections of songs it has some cute tools like beat juggling, sound warping and breakbeats you can add plus the interface is designed to mimic two turntables and a crossfader...suh-weet! You can save your mixes in MP3 format but it's a mess up and start over so you need to practice with it.

Try something like GoldWave. It costs about $50.00 US. It will allow you to take Wav, MP3, or other formats and mix them as you want. You time expand and contract to match beats. You can fade in and fade out the music.

GoldWave has a multi-sequence multi-track mixer too. I've never used it but if it has the editing features it may be closer to what you want.

You can download and try them for free.

you have to look around for the settings cause the burn soft ware is set to have seconds in between the songs so you have to look around for the secs between songs.
Some have it some don't
