I currently go to a small 2 year college and I want to transfer to UGA (The University of Georgia). My GPA is 2.42 and I currently have 47 hours. I am taking 3 classes this semester and I am expecting to get atleast a B in them. What are some of the best ways I can increase my chances of getting into UGA. It says I need 3 letters of recommendation, should I send in more or only 3? Also should I apply for the summer or for fall, which will be the easiest, I am willing to take summer school. Thanks in advance. Any info will help.

- Definately do your best to get good grades this term
- You can always turn in more reccomendation letters, I turned in several more than the minimum amount when I applied for Grad. school and I got accepted
- Be involved in the community or on campus, when you are involved it shows good character and it tells the university you are applying for that you will contribute to their campus
- I'm pretty sure that it is easier to get accepted during summer (although I am sure about the other things I've stated I am only marginally sure on this one)
- If you live in state go visit UGA and see an academic advisor, they will tell you your chances of getting accepted and what to do. If you don't live in state call and set up a phone appointment to talk with an academic advisor. This will help tremendously. Be sure to have your transcripts handy.
- Be passionate and don't give up!
- Last, remember that it is easier to get accepted to a University from a 2 year college than from high school, so relax a little.
Hope this helps!

You should apply for summer, DON'T send more then 3 letters and get involved in some organizations at your current school that you can add to your resume. Nothing with a political or religious affiliation. Try to get your GPA up to at least a 2.5. Good luck, UGA's a toughy.

More letters of rec are not going to increase your chances if your GPA is not very high (which it isnt). you need to raise your gpa, get involved in a lot of extracurriculars, and volunteer. the only way to offset a bad gpa is with other activities that are worthwhile. i would concentrate of getting better grades.
