You have to understand the World in which she grew up in. She never KNEW what anything but rich was like. The fact she had servants never entered her head. It sounds funny, but its not. Think about television, radio, cars, and everything we take for granted today. She just grew up being served and didn't understand that these people didn't also have have the same benefits when they went home.
Why should it enter her head, when most people think, its about themselves, not others, its from and about their own perspectives. That's not greed or meanness, its just self-interest.
Marie knew nothing else. She was raised by her Mother to MARRY WELL, and her Mother, Emperess had what, 12 kids? So, when she had the chance to marry Marie off the to the King of France, Marie WANTED TO PLEASE as she was raised to do! In HER WAY, she was unselfish, at least to her parents. Of course, her life as Queen was her own.
