Cover it with a tarpoline, buy 10' square of shingles, start working. Next month, buy 10' more start working, in 5 months you should have a new roof. If it is old house, you will find alot of rotten or damaged wood, if that is found, you may qualify for an emergency home improvement loan. Ask your church to help you with the moving of junk, or just help. Any help is good help.

I would try to turn this in on your insurance. When they wrote your policy, they had the opportunity to view the "present" condition. If you have leaks, then you need to get them replaced as soon as possible. Until you get them repaired, you might try to cover the roof with a thicker plastic until the repairs can be made. Allowing them to go will result in damage inside your home.

Maybe you can get a Loews or Home Depot credit card, and get them yourself. So, you can pay them off at your pace. You can hire someone to help you put them up, or ask home repairment stores what you can do. They might have some answers for you.

Try to roof it yourself. All you will be out is money for supplies. I don't know how hard it is, but I'm sure it is not mentally demanding.
Shelter is number one on the "Hierarchy of Needs".

You don't always need equity for a home improvement loan. Check with your bank and see what their requirements are.

At least TRY to turn it in on your insurance. They might pay to have it fixed, as it is currently doing MORE damage to your home than it would cost to fix.
