If you leave a sock on the floor, but there’s no one else there to see it, does it really need to be picked up?

It depends on how dirty it is.
If they're really dirty they tend to inherit a life of their own.
It might just get up ,by it's self and you'd loose it.

No, not really. I'd just kick it around until it lands in a little travelled corner, then pick it up when I'm getting ready to do laundry. I do this in my bathroom. It's kind of small and there is no room to put dirty clothes, so I toss underwear and t-shirts in the corner behind the door until the pile gets so big that I have to move it to a clothes basket.

I like to think of the floor as one big shelf. That way nothing ever has to be picked up.

For cleanliness/odor sake -- yes!
For any other reason,,,,,no cause if you have hardwood floors and you slide that sock around it will help keep the floor dust free!

If it's not in the way, I would leave it until I'm ready to pick up. No big deal. If you don't want to pick it up, just leave it.

I'll pick it up on laundry day, unless it is the weekend. My house is always tidy on the weekend.
