I was just wondering how many people out here really think that Democrats will cut off funds to the troops? I saw Tony Snow on tv the other day and he said,"If the Dems really believe the war is wrong, then all they have to do is cut off the funds." I think that Bush and his cronies are trying to get the Congress to cut off funds so they can turn around and blame the Democrats when the war continues to get worse. I honestly hope the Democrats are not stupid enough to fall for this. I say, give Bush all the rope he wants to hang his presidency, then clean up the mess in '08.

they won't cut off funding

they might cut the additional funding neccessary to escalate the war though (and they should unless convinced the escalation will have a good outcome)

really this would not be a cut of funding, only a cap on funding

You think Bush would be able to listen to the people...but he is incapable of comprehending what just happened in the last election.

The dems won't block funding...they can't, that is political suicide.

They can limit funding to what would be necessary to get the troops out...but that is also probable suicide.

His presidency is already "hung", so that has been accomplished. I would like to see the dems focus on retracting the tax cuts, get funding back for us here in America, continue funding the war until Bush is retired, and then, like you said, clean up the Iraq mess using the revenue gained through higher taxes...hopefully this won't force the country into a recession, but we can't continue with tax cuts to the wealthy, expecting that to help all of the American people.

additionally the "Dems" are no longer reducing troop investment. The President has suggested he will veto the investment in an attempt to make his weakening place extra beneficial. The "Dems" are ending up the choose for of the electorate, if Pres. Bush makes a decision to no longer help the troops, it incredibly is his determination. Pres Bush knew excursions could be prolonged in his plan for a "Surge", he mistakenly concept the recent Congress might roll over for him, basically supply him what he needed in the previous this replaced into introduced.

I don't think they will, nor should they. If funding were cut off, this maniac president would probably keep the troops there without any support out of spite just to watch them get killed and then blame the democrats.

no..they wont..remember not all of America voted Dem in the last election and only half of America voted..so that means if the Dems cut funding it might back fire on them and if things get worst in Iraq after we leave..the Rep will blame it on the Dems..saying they cut funds and forced us out and now look at it..and gas prices may skyrocket causing inflation..its tricky thing to do..they wont take a chance..

Personally I think the Dems will hang themselves by following public opinion too closely and therefore not acting in the way that's best for this country (or for the elected Dems' survival). If you think about it maybe Bush set it up that way so when the tree falls it will be on the Dems, not on him?

Man, you are too right on this one, and it sucks because EVERYONE is going to lose. Why can't we have a party step up and say PARTY'S OVER! EVERYONE OUT! None of this non binding resolution crap, none of this 'warning' you will cut funding and not do it, no more 'stay awhile because we will make it worse' crap! Pandering for votes. Bunch of crap. Even if they fall for it, I will have respect for them to adhere to the will of their constituents. Having said that, we will have to wait for the clean up in '08. I reluctantly agree that we should let Bush hang himself with as much rope as he needs. I just feel horrible for the soldiers families who have to endure another 2 years of absolute crap.

Sacrifice lives for political gain, eh? You must be a politician.
The Democrats don't have the moral fortitude to cut off funding for the exact reasons you've just listed.

they don't have the guts to cut funding, instead they'll tie the troops hands with enhanced rules of engagement and hope it leads to more US death so they can ensure the troop surge fails and tell Republicans "we told you so" during the 2008 elections.
