I would like to post song of the songs that I wrote on
www.purevolume.com (like perform them and upload them) but I need to record them first and put them on my computer. Are their any free programs on the web that can help me do this? What things do I need to do this?

well you can attach a microphone to your computer and record through that (but you dont always get the greatest sound quality) or you can get an acoustic/electric and plug it in to your computer and record from there.

Well I assume your acoustic guitar has no built-in pickups/preamp, in which case you need a microphone, as good as you can possibly get, and an interface to connect it to your computer. For that, as they all process the signal digitally, you can go with a small M-Audio USB interface (you will have to adapt the computer's settings a bit, of course). Then you can use any audio recorder, even the stupid little Windows recorder will do, but having a serious program, i.e., non-Microsoft, would help. Try Audacity (I think it's free) or a pretty decent one, given that it's for PC of SH-T, Adobe Audition. Audition (and probably Audacity) can save your file as MP3, so it's web-ready.
Record in a small room with lots of rugs, heavy curtains, uneven surfaces, and other obstacles so you record the guitar cleanly with no reverberation from the room. Keep the mic about a foot away from the sound hole, straight in front of it.

You've got the WORST taste in music and would have the WORST taste in entertainment if you liked talentless reality shows! Listen to good music like ICP!
