There are some places on the internet where you could probably buy lenses without an eye exam, but it's always wise to go to an eye doctor for 3 main reasons...
1) Most reputible lens sellers on the internet will only sell to you if you provide a prescription (even if you don't need corrective lenses you have a prescription) Buyer beware if they don't ask for one.
2) Lenses come in different sizes and the typical "one-size-fits-all" lens (usually labelled 14.5 median) doesn't fit everyone, so it's a good idea to get your "size" before you drop money on expensive lenses
3) During a trip to the eye doctor you typically can try on different lenses to see what colors/styles you like, and they will also teach you how to insert/remove them and how to care for them.

Yes they are safe but you can get some that you can wear for 30 days then despose or dailies. I have blue eyes and really suited the brown and green. If you have dark eyes, light colours arent really recommended as the change, if any, may only be very slight. Cosmetic coloured lenses are a bog standard shape (not made to fit your eyes personally) so they may be a little uncomfortable. Also, never sleep in them or wear them for long periods of time.

i do wear glasses but i also wear coloured contact lenses. you can go to your local specsavers and try coloured lenses for free on a weeks trial. they charge you for a consultation (approx. £25) to make sure your eyes will take contact lenses safely (better safe than sorry!) and they do offers! i get 3 pairs (3 different colours) for £45. (each pair has 30 wears). i only wear them when i go out so as i don't go out very often they last me ages. for instance, if you only go out twice a week, (1 pair will last you 30 wears) they'll last about 3 mnths or 15 weeks. i go out less than that and i get 3 pairs which last me the whole year! bargain! go to specsavers and ask! they are called "freshlook" lenses and they're really comfortable to wear and have some great colours. one of my favourites is "sea green". they look lush in! hope that helps! take care. ya, they are perfectly safe to wear. you have to have an examination so they will fit your eye right, so find an optometrist and make an appointment. i have been wearing contacts for a long time, and they are safe. just make sure to change them when you are supposed too (like every 3 weeks). ggod luck!

It is okay to wear them if you are fitted properly. Yes you do need an eye exam to make sure they fit right you do not want to make your eyes hurt with ones that do not fit.

You do still need an appointment! you have 2 get a refferl before u can get any. This is because they need to make sure you don't get a perscription type or it will be blurry because u don't need it!
