How to protect copy rights for my unpublished book if for example I distribute copes to my students or people.

You don't need to register it. If you get it published the publisher takes care of that. For right now, like someone said above, send it to yourself and dont open it. That's what worked for me.

send a printed copy to the Libary of Congress and request a copyright. A few years ago, the fee was $12.
Can also do a search for Library of Congress and inform yourself there of current copyright procedures.

If you are strapped for cash mail a copy to yourself and do not reopen it. The post mark shows the date that the material was created.
