We were listening to the music in our Envoy , we shut the car off, and when we came back into the car, the volume would NOT work, but the display on the radio worked fine. My husband checked the fuses and all in tact. Any suggestions? THANKS!

It's a different manufacturer, so this may not apply, but I will tell you what happened with my Mercury.

My stereo would light up, change stations, etc., but no sound came out of the speakers. The air conditioner fan would not work, and the power steering cut in and out. After much searching, we finally figured out that it was a switch in the ignition system that turns off all accessories so that the engine will start more easily. For some reason, it was located on the transmission.

I know it sounds weird, but when that switch was replaced, everything worked again.

If your Envoy is still under warranty, just take it back to the dealer.

I know in our Tahoe, the volume actually has a speed control sensor that you can set. As the car gets faster, the radio turns up to make up for road noise...you could adjust it. Check there and make sure you didn't hit that or something.

is there a mute button on the steering wheel? also newer stereos interact with the door switches, open and lose the doors again? the hatch? does the radio work or the cd or just one of the two?
