I'm hopeless with crockery and forever breaking things, so whatever I've inherited over the years is gone now, just bought some brilliant dinner plates from Ikea for 19 pence each, bowls to match same price and cups 9 pence each, so if I break those it doesn't really matter at that price.

Mine are square shaped and black with a staff of music across the top in white. They were a present from my parents for christmas. Up until then I had been using hand-me-downs too. Like you, I couldn't chuck them! I put the old ones into storage.

I bought my set of plates like 15 years ago and when I left the b/f I didn't take them. Then his new girlfriend packed up the remaining things I had left and I put it all in my garage. 3 years later I found them in the stuff, I was pretty excited. They are avocado green and black pattern, I like them a lot.

We have two sets, one for when we're on our own which I inherited from my mum - they are yellow with little red cherries on them (yes, I like them, they're really pretty), but a bit worn now!

We have a set for "best" too, when people come over, which my partner got given as a birthday present from work - they are plain white and square, v posh like the ones in restaurants (I like them too.)

;-)

When i moved in to this house, it came with some plates, but I don't like using them (OCD) so I bought two nice plates, they are white with a stripy blue trim. They were from tescos, and about £1.50 each.

For our casual plates, they've got grape and vine designs on them. Our formal plates are white with a border of eggshell blue on them - very pretty.

When it's just us, we use the white paper ones.
When we have company over, we break out the good red plastic ones, with the crimped edges.

Give them to me! I cut up old plates and make mosaics out of them. Sometimes people give me their old plates and I make them something so they have a little bit of it back.
