That's a good idea - the yanks seem pretty friendly - the country might want to do business too - it'd be a relief from a government that is intent on strangling the economy and generally making what should be easy to achieve mind bogglingly difficult through their regulations and laws.
You have my sympathy from North of the border.

I am English of partly Irish descent and I do not feel unwelcome in England.
England, or the UK as a whole has many problems but right now I still feel at home here.
Faced with the choice of moving to another country or staying here and trying to do something positive about the situation, I choose the latter.
Going abroad depends all sorts of factors: the individual, the country they move to, their ability to get on, etc. Some people are able to make a go of it while others fail.
One thing I would say to any English person thinking of going abroad: learn to speak the lingo. Get a basic knowledge before you go and use every opportunity to improve once you get there. Too many English people go overseas thinking the rest of the world speaks English and are horrified when they find it isn't so.

Come here, mate. I have English (Ormsby), Welsh (Bayne), Scottish (MacAulay), Irish (Shannon, Flanagan) and Scots-Irish (Johnston) in me and The U.S. would be a good fit and I for one would welcome you here.

If you can stand Americans, you'll be more than welcome here. We're loud, uneducated, rude, and totally self-centered. Join us! It's a hoot!
