Yes, Marrakech is amazing!!!
Djemma El-Fna is great day or night, in the evenings they set-up food stalls, great food and very cheap and an amazing atmosphere!
You can get a horse and cart ride from Jemma El-Fna, it lasts about 1 hour and is very cheap.
There's lots of other tourist things to do in Marrakech just ask at your reception.
Also, just outside Marrakech and heading into the mountains is a town called Oukaimeden. It is beautifull and well worth visiting, theres some restaurants, lovel scenery and a waterfall.
Whatever you do in Marrakech you will have a great time, it really is a wonderfull place.
When you buy anything make sure you haggle, you can get at least 50% off the original price (the locals expect you to haggle so don't feel bad). If you use taxis use the small ones "petite taxi", they are cheap.
I've added a link you may find usefull, hope this helps and have a great holiday!

I certainly have, but before the tourists arrived - so count the years :)
..... and i bet a lot still hasn't changed. It's on my revisit list !!
The best place to form an opinion on hotels and what to do is the official Tourism website for Morocco Tourism and Cheaperthanhotels - Morocco and Marrakech - yu can sort prices, star ratings, locations and dig deeper to find special offers.
Here's some links and pictures to have some fun with:
Good luck with your ideas.

Marrakech is a lovely city. u'll like it for sure.
there are many sighseeings .... the musts are : jamea lafna square, menara, el badii palace, old medina & majorelle gardens !!
Why don't you try to lodge in a riad instead of a hotel... riad is more typical...
visit the website bellow to have an idea (click on Riad Marrakech in the left side of your screen)
I'll be visiting it with my husband during the 2nd week of march...
have a nice trip

Marrakesh is a town that sums up all of Morocco's amazing North African elegance, view it with hotelbye . The city's title presented the basis for the name of the country itself, punctuation out that town's value down the ages. Within the bustle of the town primary you'll find old and new clashing and mixing, which could make some tourists very nearly dizzy. Snake charmers and smooth shop touts equally contend for your attention amid a noisy, vivid bustle that encapsulates Morocco's lively soul. For a lot of visitors, Marrakesh's labyrinth Medina (Old City) area is the town's celebrity attraction. The narrow alleyways certainly are a kaleidoscope of colors, scents and sounds. Is likely to be the sightseeing spotlight of one's trip; along with the just wandering is intended to lively maze.

I just got back from there yesterday! Depends on what you are into, but it seems required to check out the medina (the old, walled in part of the city) and the souks (markets) therein. You can get anything from spices to trinkets to elaborate handmade rugs and antiques for a fraction of what you would pay in Europe or the US. One thing to bear in mind, the shopkeepers in the souks, especially if they think you are European or a US citizen are going to increase their prices. Offer them 20% of their asking price and walk if they demand more than 30% of it. If it's something you really want, use your best judgement.
As for siteseeing, great places to check out are the Majorelle Gardens, Setti Fatma (about 100km away) for the Walk of the Seven Waterfalls and getting lost wandering in the souks and Jemma Al Fna, the square.
There are plenty of great hotels and riads to stay in while you are there. I stayed at an incredible riad near the Palmarie, north of the medina. I won't say where because I think it's the best kept secret in the world and don't want to spoil it for the select few of us that know of it.
And the prices are super low compared to the US or Europe. And the people are incredibly warm there as well.
For restaurants, check out Yacout and Comptoir. They are both clean, fun and lively as well as safe. Both will set you back quite a bit more than some of the "cheap and cheerful" places in town, but you won't get sick at either of these, either.

Marrakesh is amazing, but I would hire a reliable tour guide/body guard when visiting the souks; almost got stabbed there a couple of years back by a kid that looked about 7 years old; not very safe! I think I stayed at La Moumunia when I was there; wouldn't stay in anything BUT a good safe hotel anywhere in Morocco! Shopping is fantastic, tours to all sorts of historical sites are within a days drive, but again, take a well armed guide!
