Is this really going to help ? How are we going to control our population are we not going to promote free trials for some sections of the society who are largely responsible for the real burden on the population is it not going to be misused by many? After more than 50 yrs of freedom The Govts are still struggling to provide drinking water, electricity , roads the basics to all parts of the nation. Not to forget that our literacy rates are not too high either when compared worldwide how are they going to tkae care of these additional female populace. The conditions of Govt schools all over are not good at all. Instead of enforcing stringent methods of family planning why are we encouraging people to produce at will and hand over the responsibility to the Govt? when they are certainly incapable of taking additional responsibilities. What are they really going to promote? its unthinkable. The registered number of cases of atrocities on women in every state are on the rise already.

The Government decision to adopt the unwanted female children is laudable for two reasons. Firstly, from the humanitarian point of view, you give succour to the female children and prevent female fortified. The so rescued female children may be taken back by the parents who abandoned them, after some time, when good sense prevailed over them. Secondly, I am unable to subscribe to your view that thus by adopting the female children, we encourage growth in population. Assuming that Government had not taken this step, what will be the scenario? These female children who are unwanted by the parents will be killed, on their birth and yet they will not stop procreating further until they get male children. Even if they give birth to male children, they will not stop giving birth to more children. All female children born will meet the same fate and only the male may escape being killed. For them, infanticide is a mode of family planning. What a crude way to plan your family? They have no time and sophistication for prevention of conception in a scientific way. They indulge in free and unprotected sex and they kill the unwanted baby on its birth. It is a question of ethics and social policy. The society should intervene and rescue the born children, when the sex ration in the country is going down in each census.

yes and no.
It will do good to a certain extent that there won't be any fetuses found outside hospitals or buried in some far off places.recently fetuses were found in Ratlam. If parents find out before or after birth about a girl child they would sign them up for adoption and wont worry 'coz they know the center government is willing to take care of them. This may result in less fetuses being killed but it is certainly not a solution to the problem.there should be stricter laws imposed in hospitals.Indian government banned the sex determination in 1994.Its been over a decade, then why does this condition still exist in India.? The problem is in the system.Shouldn't the hospitals and doctor's licenses be canceled for committing such inhuman crimes?
It's a good step by the government to take care of female child.
But please do not insult the females by saying they are unwanted. They are, were and will be a very important part of this society as long as the world exists. We are in the 21st century now and boast about India shining and booming in the world market. Is this how we tend to realize our dreams by killing the female fetuses?
The question says ". Not to forget that our literacy rates are not too high either when compared worldwide how are they going to take care of these additional female populace", well it's not the female population which is "additional" but the "male".
India's sex ratio is 106 per 100 females. Educating the masses is the only solution and not just adoption. I do not see how population will be in control or how female fetuses wont be killed if the center does implement this policy?

Yes. This will certainly help in curbing the cruelty caused to the female infants, who are NOT at all responsible for their births.
The scheme will be successful only when it is implemented without any restrictions and governed by an assocoiation connected with social service. It should not be forgotten by the next elected government, stating some excuses.
Sufficient funds should be allocated to take care of these children. If necessary, the children when they grow up can be sent to a willing foster parents (After scrutinizing their anticedents) for a better progress of the child. However, the govt should have the option of receiving back the children, if she is not willing to continue with her foster parents, whatever the reason may be.

I don't think it makes any difference whether the child is female or male. The problem is that people have come to think that it's the government's job to take care of everyone. Once government takes over any problem improvements stop. Why improve schools when there's no accountability to the students or their parents? Why take care of the infrastructure when any damage you do to it will be paid for by the "taxpayers"? Privately funded charities can take care of the truly needy and would do better than the government does.

We have most foolish people in the central government like the un elected home minister, murderer Sib siren, and other criminals held not guilty by courts.Instead of legislating reforms to give life time incentive to family controlled person and lifetime special penalty tax for person with more than two children they are spending tax payers money on family planning and is being syphoned off by political thieves. The politician is happy with illiterate masses who will sell his vote for one time food and a hundred rupee note.Bribes like television and Saree's and dhotis are publicly distributed to make people vote for certain party.
The woman's representative bill will never see the light of the day. The president is supposed to be a very learned person. But he is just another rubberstamp like his predeccessors. so it will continue like this till the so called government admistrative machinery becomes totally defunct.

If you are a fan of Chinese government control, I must tell you that China now realizes it made a mistake with their family planning. One child per family and a percentage of girls were aborted. Start looking at recent studies and I believe you will change your thinking. But then again who are you really? You are talking about persecuting certain sections of society? Interesting, I wonder if you are a college student?

Taking away our rights by coming into our homes to tell us what to do and how to live by the government is one of the reasons why we now have so many problems. The government has taken away our responsibilities. It isn't the people. And, here you are suggesting more governmental control over our personal lives. Pretty soon, we are going to wake up and wonder what happened to our freedom. Are you just going to scratch your head, rub your eyes, and shrug it all away?
