Whenever I play Counter-Strike: Source, my FPS is on the low 20's. Does anyone know why?

What background programs do you have running?
Other programs running in the background can use all your resources, and make the game run slow

How fast is your internet connection?
If your internet is less than 512kb, you game will run slow, very slow.
