Some people tell me I cannot be evicted in the winter time...is this true?

Yes however it's against the law for a landlord to create discomfort to you or your family. Like turning off the gas to the heater or disconnecting the heat pump. But when you get the papers you gotta go.

No, it isn't. If you fail to pay your rent or violate your lease in any way, you can be evicted regardless of the time of year.
There is also a misconception that the power company will not turn your power off it you need it for a medical reason but the paperwork clearly states that failure to pay your bill may result in disconnection.

No. How is it the landlord's problem that it is winter and you've shirked your bills? Pay your rent and it won't be an issue!!!
