ok thats alot of qustion, but evanescence is a hard rock band.... but there ****** awsome, bullet for my valentine is a non america rock band

I can say that there seems to be no clear definition of what alternative rock is. I have seen CDs by the pretenders and the sex pistols in the alternative rock sections in music stores and niether of them are what I would call alternative rock. The local 'alternative rock' radio station here in Pittsburgh plays the new song by Johnny Cash and a live version of Folsom Prison Blues on a regular basis and he is clearly country. The genre I would put Evanescence in is rock because I think they are pretty mainstream.

evanescene might be considered alternative/punk alternative/rock
i think this b/c the guitar/drums parts and type of singing.
