start locally, talk to anyone you might know that could help improve your acting skills, your high school theatre director should be able to be a huge help because most likely, he/she will have done alot to do with acting and could refer you to some good websites, other people, or many other helpful things

Start performing anywhere and everywhere you can. Look for auditions at local theatres...contact local studios and save your money and create a demo.
