My gas furnace will not come on unless I turned the thermostat almost all the way up. This is usually around 90 degrees. Can someone tell me why.

Might be a bad connection or a bad t stat

Check for a large hole behind the thermostat.If so then seal it with insulation etc.Cold air will come down the wall and influence the thermostat.

If you are using a non digital thermostat they often react as you describe due to the weight of dust on the thermo sensing bulb. Remove the cover and insure it is clean in there.

your thermostat is going out, call a hvac repair person.
