I failed 3 times...not because I was bad, I wasn't ready. My instructors was in a rush to get me to pass. I just listened to him time after time and just went for the tests. Now it's been like a year and a half...I think because I lost a lot of confidence in getting the license so I quit until now I want it back!

Did you get the reason you were rejected in writing? If so, find out where you went wrong and avoid making the same mistakes again.

In 1963, after I had taken Driver's Education, I went to the Whitestone, NY test area with my father. The Inspector came over, got in the car and after telling me to proceed, he said, "You know, Mr. E., I've got a wife and five kids. The kids all need shoes!" I replied, "Really?", but didn't say or do anything else.

I failed - failure to stop at stop signs!

Next week, I took the exam again. Same Inspector..repeat of previous results (after his telling me that his kids were hungry and needed shoes). Guess what? Same results, only this time I "failed to use proper signals, and failed to stop at three stop signs".

Third week...Same exact scenario. There weren't three stop signs in the entire area; he had me make only one circle of the four block area so I was back in less than five minutes.

Fourth week, my father and I went to the Test Area; same Inspector comes over. "Trying again, Mr. E.?" My father said, "We want someone else to give the young man his test!" My heart was in my mouth as he refused. My father, however, told him that he wasn't getting into the car with his son and was not moving the car until someone else was available to give me the test, holding up the line of cars waiting to take the road test.

The Inspector's Supervisor came over and asked if there was a problem. My dad said, "Yes! This man failed my son three times and I don't think he's being fair to the kid; I know the kid can drive extremely well and obeys all signals, and signs!"

The Supervisor got into the car, and took me for a twenty-minute test. Guess what? I got my license on the next day and the original Inspector was demoted and later fired for soliciting bribes!

Maybe you are not ready to drive yet. If u get real nervous and can't think clearly u shouldnt be behind the wheel anyway. If u freak out when you r just driving the back roads imagine how you will be on the expressway when people and trucks are going 70mph or in how about in bad weather, man im shaking just thinking about it. ask your par4ents to take you driving everydayand make sure they take you on the freeway then the test will be a breeze
