free media bring their versions of the news to those who couldn't afford to stay updated otherwise.
but the truth is, the few cents it takes to purchase a newspaper doesn't amount to much, and public libraries bring the internet to those who cannot afford it on their own... tv and radio news is free (assuming you have access to a tv or radio) so you could argue that much of the news media in america are free or at least very inexpensive, yet still many americans choose to stay uninformed.
an educated american public is important, and free media help make this a reality. in other countries, there is a different reality... maybe for a different essay.

The easiest way to do assignments like these is to think about what media would be like if it wasn't free. Think of what it would be like if the government had the right to say what the media could and couldn't report. Think of societies, like those in Middle East, where this is the case. How often would the President or leader of that country be criticized?

Do you mean 'free' as in no cost, or do you mean 'free' as in readily available, without censorship? In China, the government censors and shuts down Internet sites that don't agree with them. Keeping people ignorant is a method of control, which so far, we don't have. The freedom of speech is one of our best freedoms, so cherish it. Best wishes, keep learning.

The free handouts one receives in the mail or the free handouts found in street boxes or handed to you. It's another opinion in the vast field of opinions.

Because who wants to pay for liberal lies in the media? Most if not all media is liberal and a large (not all) portion of it is off truths and flat out lies.
