Start when you are ready to have a child. FYI, I have three children. Was pregnant at age 32,34, and 37. I had great pregnancies and never any problem. I'm a registered nurse. It all depends on the general health of your wife. If she doesn't have any problems with hypertension, diabetes and such, she should be fine. Even with the problems, pregancy should be fine, just needs more intensive medical monitoring.

Many couples are worrying about this now days. You should start a family when both of you are ready. Not just ready to be parents, but also financially and emotionally. The older the women gets into her mid thirties there is a higher chance of having a baby born with a birth defect. Because of the technology now days like amniocentisis, ultrasounds, blood test (Alphafetalprotein) the parents can tell in the early stages of pregnancy if there are going to be any problems with the unborn baby. Another side of this is the older the mother is the harder the carrying of the child and the whole birthing process is on the mother. My advice is have your wife go to her OBGYN and make an appointment for pre-conception counseling. This is very good for both mom and baby because the Dr does a complete physical exam, blood work, family history of genetic abnormalities, and nutrition counseling. The dr will also give your wife a script for prenatal vitamins that contain higher amounts of folic acid then normal vitamins to prevent neural tube defects like spina bifida. I know this sounds very complicated and confusing but it is all worth it in the end when you hold your beautiful healthy baby.

Hi - i am not a medical professional - however, i can assure you without a doubt that you and your wife are not too old to start a family - indeed, in the UK the average age of women having her first child has recently risen from 26 to 29! so i'd say if you'd like to have a family theres no time like the present - you also give yourself plenty of time in case you do need a little help to concieve!
lots of luck
xx

I'm not a medical professional but 29-30 is definately not too late to have a baby. My aunt gave birth the same time I did last year...she is 37 and her baby is perfectly healthy. Hope this helps.

You should start a family when the two of you feel ready. 35 is generally the age where doctors start watching pregnancies carefully, that's the age where extra tests are usually suggested to test for certian medical issues with the baby...some genetic, some not.

I was 30 with my first pregnancy and 32 with my second. The second time I had twins. All were healthy babies and are now healthy adults. My daughter just had her first and she is 28. Just don't do it until you are both ready because it is a huge lifestyle change. Sometimes I think it is better when you are a little older and are more ready to settle down. Good Luck!

Start as soon as you're ready. The sooner the better though. Fertility starts to decrease around 27 years old. I had three kids by the time I was 25, in my first marriage. Now I'm 32 and remarried and haven't been able to successfully carry a baby. 4 miscarriages. Crazy, no explanation, but it makes me happy to know that I was lucky enough to have the children I do. You just never know. Good luck and have fun trying!!!!

you shouldnt go by time only. You should start a family when your ready, and when you are financialy able to provide for that child.
By the way, complications dont usually present themselves until the woman is 40 and older, and even then there isnt a definative way to be sure. A woman could have complications at 25. it is diffrent for everyone.

you hsould start a family when you think its right for you. its not too old, but do know that the older you get your fertility does go down, especially for a woman. there are also risks like birth deffects for a woman if you wait too long. i think anything over 35 is concidered high risk, talk to your doc. if you have more concerns. good luck
