its hard to say because the team as a whole seemed to respond to cowher so i dont think motivation is a problem.cowher also had enthusiasm and seemed to relate to his players well.so tomlin must have made a good impression.probably showed he was ready to take over as a head coach.i gotta say he made a great decision on his rb coach.thats probably what won him the job.

I hope that Tomlin will be able to pump some life into a team that was such a disappointment last season. Although I loved Cowher, it was clear that he just wasn't as into it last year. Hopefully a new Head Coach will turn that around.
As far as offense changing, I still hope we can pick up a big back and establish our running game again. Fast Willie is great, but only in open field. Hopefully we can acquire some offensive line talent too. Ben was sacked too many times last year, and the line couldn't give Willie enough holes to make it through. The guy's too little to do it on his own, so we either need a big back, some upgrades in the O-line, or both (preferrably BOTH). And the addition of Ken Anderson as QB Coach should definitely have an impact on Roethlisberger.
What I'm more worried about are conflicts in the Defense. Dick LeBeau is staying, which I love, but Tomlin is known for his 4-3 D, while Dick and Cowher used a 3-4. MY question is, who wins this battle? Tomlin, the Head Coach, or LeBeau, the expert Defensive Coordinator? As far as I've heard, we're sticking with LeBeau's plans for now...until there are transitions in players.
Anyways, I'm hoping for a much-improved season next year. It should be interesting. A coaching change is not common in Pittsburgh, so it will be exciting to see how the players and fans handle it.

It will be a huge impact, but mostly in the minds of the fans. I for one will miss that huge chin sticking out. Tomlin is a very similar coach to what Cowher was when he first got there. Young and pumped to be a head coach. This excitement will undoubtedly be seen in his players, and assistant coaches. From seeing Tomlin talk to the press I am thrilled with the decision. He understands that Pittsburgh football is blue collar, and he isn't coming in trying to change that identity. He may not keep the same system, but I would expect the attitude of the team to remain pretty constant.
As for the offense, he has stated that he will continue to blue collar, here we come running, try to stop it, attitude. Though he will be under the microscope as everything football related is in Pittsburgh, he knows the Rooney's will give him a fair shot. He will get his time, and he will get his chance. At least at first I expect to see very little change in the Steeler's game. With young strong talent at QB and RB, and a maturing receiving core around Ward, Tomlin doesn't have to go find talent, this team was built to run, and I'm sure he will continue.

I feel Tomlin will have a great impact on the team,Wow !!did you
see the Bears let Ron Rivera go .that ought to tell you something
about coaching decisions.. Bruce Arians has been moved
up to offensive coordinator and Larry Zierlein is the new offensive
line coach sure hope he does better than Grimm. Was reading
that Tomlin is looking at wide receivers in the draft. They want
to go to more 4 wide receiver sets in 2007.Colbert says wide
receiver and defensive back is a priority in the Draft..what
is he thinking ? I say offensive line should be no 1 priority ...
I think this draft is going to tell us a little about the post Cowher
era. I think if they take a receiver no 1 it shows that Tomlin
is going to be looking offensive.. We are solid at running back.
and qb.. If they take a defensive lineman no 1 then Tomlin is
thinking 4- 3 next year .. Going to be interesting. We are drafting high 15th... I think Dick LeBeau is going to teach Mr Tomlin
a lot about the 3-4

personally i think there is going to be a huge improvement from this past year. the steelers lost a lot of coaching staff offensively, and it's probably not for the worst, they didn't perform well in any aspect of their offense last year. the o-line couldn't protect ben, ben couldn't connect to the recievers, when he did they didn't do to well either and a few of those int's he threw were the receivers bobbling the ball, the running game wasn't as good as it shoulda been. with the new staff i think things will go back to the way they should be in Pittsburgh, strong defense, rely on the running game, and be able to use the passing game effectively when needed. The steelers will dominate this coming season.

it will depend on how much control he takes over the defense...tomlin ran the tampa 2 behind a 4-3 in minnesota, but dick lebeau is still the defensive coordinator, and he blitzes constantly from that 3-4, so we'll see if he tries to combine those ideas or if he decides to go completely to one of those two defenses...the offensive changes depend completely on the coordinator he hires

Not sure, I'd be just as concerned at the fact that the Steelers lost Grimm and Whisenhunt as well. This is a big year for Big Ben; he's going to have to bring his "A" game if the Steelers expect to compete.

He said that we won't be afraid to go with 4 WR sets on first down. I think we will continue to focus on the running game, but that it will not be as predictable as it has been. I would like to see us run out of some spread sets. You don't have to line up with 2 TEs to run the ball.

I think he will have a negative impact. Having a good interview with the owner and GM does not mean you are ready to be the head coach.
