I'm looking to buy a coat but in some stores they just have thin jackets. Can you name any good stores that have a variety of different coats.

You can find many different types of coats and cheap prices at Burlington Coat Factory. They have Rainforest, Claiborne, South Pole just to name a few from memory. Prices are a heck of allot better than Eddie Bauer, Fields, Macy's.

Macy's in the loop (downtown). It has the largest selection of coats in the world right now. I was just there the other day and they had some great deals on winter coats! Go this Friday because they will be an extra 50% off and an additional 20% if you have a Macy's card! I bought four nice ones which would have retailed for $4000 for a few hundred!

Filene's Basement still had a good selection of winter coats when I was last there. Probably the cheapest place to go in the city. If you get up by the Water Tower, Lord and Taylor is going out of business, and they have some coats on sale.
Marshall Field's no longer exists. It's Macy's now.

Burlington Coat Factory- I'm pretty sure there's one in Chicago cause it's so COLD there! A lot of stores are already into spring clothes so you may have to check out Salvation Army or Goodwill.

Carson Pirie Scotts or Macy's(Macy's here in Chicago are former Marshall Field's stores) should have what you want, or Burlington Coat Factory.

Carson's has pretty good selection of winter coats, right now... Lord & Taylor have a HUGE sale, go check it out the have great savings. Keep warm !

Go to Nordstrom Rack - it is Nordstrom's Outlet Store - they have the best stuff and really inexpensive.
