She has gotten a big belly over just the last few days. I just got her last thursday. Her belly looks somewhat squarish from the side, but mostly round and it is really big. Much larger compared to my other Dalmation Mollie female.

Certainly sounds likt the classic signs to me. She will probably have the babies within the next few days so be ready with another tank or a breeder net if you want to save any babies.

Hi. Ive just been doing search to look for same answers. I bought 2 mollies also just over a week ago. 1 black female and a dalmation male. My black molly has also gotton a huge tummy like you have described, she has become pretty greedy also and chases other fish away from food lol. She has claimed a plant pot which I put in as an extra cover/hiding place.
Can I ask what is the best plants to put in for fry to hide in safely. Also in my tank is 3 penguin tetras, 1 male Betta and some real tiny panda corys.

she probably is pregnant. Mollies are livebearers...... Get ready to protect the babies, because the mom or any other fish will eat them :(

Sounds like she is pregnant, and when they get that square look they are pretty close to giving birth
