Shouldn't a business owner have the right to decide whether to allow smoking in their establishment? Why can not the owner of a bar post a sign on the door saying Smoking Allowed or Not Allowed? Leave it up to the patrons to decide if they want to spend their money there instead of having the owners rights infringed upon.

The same goes for employees. There are other jobs. They know when they start there whether the place allows smoking or not. If you were allergic to nuts would you work at a peanut butter company?

So if one jumps off a bridge then everyone should jump off a bridge. I don't think so.

we're still struggling for answers in Ohio, since a smoking ban was passed in November. the State has come to realize that they are unable ,as yet, to enforce the new laws. they also have not considered the impact on, let's say bars and taverns, the decreased tax revenues the State will generate if patronage decreases.
also, according to the letter of the law, a truck driver is in his "place of business', and technically, banned from smoking in his vehicle, even if he OWNS IT!
to date, we continue to smoke in our bar. i'm the dj for mine, and i get paid a %age of drink sales, so this is likely to have an adverse impact on my income.
as far as restaurants go, hey, i'm ok with that ban. people can eat a meal and leave without the absolute need for a smoke.

Why would a business owner want to wave goodbye to his trade?

People would just go to another bar where they can smoke. The idea of the government being involved is that they can make a whole city smoke free. If all the bars are no smoking then no one would loose business. If one or two bars were no-smoking out of 20, those two bars would end up out of business.

We have a non-smoking part of town by law, the bar owners are loosing business as everyone ends up in the "smoking" bars. Their argument is "if one is made no smoking then all should be no smoking for fair business".

It's up to the business owner. I used to smoke, I still frequent the same places I always did. If I didn't like people smoking, I wouldn't continue to go. It's the lame politically correct PETA @zz_holes that are causing the trouble.

Because some people want the government to control every aspect of their lives. It freaking drives me crazy. What a stupid law. I totally agree with you.
